Critical Thinking and Problem-Solving skills

As a Software automation testing intern, I aim to improve my ability to solve complicated problems in automated testing with Selenium by December 27, 2024. I'll work on difficult tasks, with experienced teammates, and I will learn new debugging skills. To improve my skills I will ask my team lead to learn from their experience of how they would manage this task.

I can manage to achieve this goal by solving problems using Selenium, the goal is to solve at least 15-30 challenging problems in automated testing scenarios. Which will help me to get a deeper understanding of my upcoming tasks.

By Dec 27, 2024, I will try my best to apply all my university skills and knowledge to do the manual testing using automation. As a co-op student working on both tasks, I will gain knowledge from my automation team and I will apply it to automation as well as a manual which would be very beneficial for my company and our team.

I can manage to achieve this goal by reviewing at least one script daily on which a previous intern has worked which will help me to understand how automation works and how to write new automation scripts in the correct format.

I chose this competency because it is very important for my job as a software tester. Strong automation skills are a must because of the growing complexity of software programmes, especially when using tools like Selenium. My goals describe how I wanted to help my company grow and to do things automatically so that it would be very beneficial for the current teams and upcoming interns. Both objectives will help me be more successful in automation testing. By improving these skills, I'll become a more experienced tester and create more opportunities for leadership positions as I actively work to improve the company's testing procedures.

Communication skills

By June 17, 2024, I want to get better at writing and speaking professionally. I will work on this skill by making a good and professional relationship with my colleagues as well as by participating in every group discussion. I'll also learn to speak in a way that is understandable to everyone by paying close attention to what other people are saying.

By June 30, 2024, I want to improve my presentation skills. I will improve these skills in my daily standup by making my presentation speech more professional and taking time to answer the questions that my colleagues might have. I will work on this goal by applying the knowledge of my ENG 3000 (Professional Engineering Practice) course that I took last semester.

I chose this competency because good speaking and listening are very important for teamwork. My goals describe my focus on my ability to interact and understand others in team meetings. Effective communication helps us to increase team productivity and makes it fun to work with the group. These abilities will help me become a good team leader in the future because they allow me to share ideas, provide helpful feedback, and maintain a team properly.
To achieve this goal I will participate in daily stand-up meetings. Where I will get useful feedback from my team lead, supervisor and co-workers on how I can improve.

Accessing and Analyzing Information Skills

By July 01, 2024, my goal is to improve my ability to access and understand information skills. By getting individual tasks at work I will get better at searching for specific information in documents as well as online. I'll participate fully in discussions so I can share my knowledge and learn from others. My goal is to improve my ability to use knowledge to make correct decisions.

By August 01, 2024, I'll try my best to improve the information access and analysis skills of my co-workers. I'll fully participate in team discussions and I will encourage others to share their thoughts and ideas. To increase the quality of our information exchange, I'll also try to get better at paying attention and providing feedback. I will start the discussion on the important topics so that we can share ideas and grow from one another.

I chose this competency because it is essential to our job to be good at finding and understanding information. My goals describe how to strengthen my abilities in this area, ensuring that I can locate the correct information and make successful use of it. The goal is to improve information access and analysis for productive work. These skills will help me a lot when I go back to 4th year in university after my work term since that is my senior year and we need to learn how to do work by ourselves by doing research.
